Folklore Evening
Záborsky Wine Catacomb
More than dinner…
First: Welcome snaps “palinka”
Gipsy music in front of the entrance.
The Záborszky (Wine Catacomb) Restaurant was established in a former wine cellar extending to several branches of the Budafok cellar system, it is the restaurant with the richest traditions - and it is more than a restaurant. The Záborszky Wine Catacombe is a restaurant on the one hand, and a theatre on the other hand.
Menu:
-
Goulash or Pandur soup (typical Hungarian soup with pork, carrot, onion, mushroom, sour cream, marjoram)
-
Fried mixed platter (chicken breast, pork, mashed potato with onion, egg barley, braised red cabb age)
-
Somloi Galuska (decadent Hungarian sweetness is made with three different-flavored sponge cakes, pastry cream, raisins, walnuts, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream) or Gundel palacsinta a crepe with a filling made from rum, raisin, walnuts, and lemon zest, served with a chocolate sauce
Drinks:
-
Unlimited red and white wine, and soda water.
Highlights:
One of our most enjoyable moments is during the folklore evening when guests are offered red or white wine from a "lopó." This is a special wine pouring tool that not many people are familiar with nowadays.

The Show
Folk dance ensembles deliver performances specially choreographed for the Záborsky wine Catacomb, in the accompaniment of József Balázs's 5-member orchestra in the center of the restaurant called Theatre Hall. The show offers a glimpse into the rich and regionally diverse traditions of Hungarian folk dance and folklore costumes.

The folk show starts at 20.30 p.m. and approx. finish 23.00 p.m.
